LIST OF CANDIDATES
(Listed in the order that they filed.)
Tina Moore-Yamron
I have lived in Chatsworth for the past 12 years. I was drawn to the small town vibe and enjoy the proximity to the city. From a big family, I work well with others. As a nurse for
over 40 years, I have developed an ‘anything is possible’ attitude. As I prepare to retire, I hope to devote much free time to great causes, like the Neighborhood Council. You
can count on me to be engaged and reliable.
Ramiel George Shamwel
Greetings! My name is Ramiel and I am a lifelong and native resident of Chatsworth. Learning from my experiences as an academic with a doctorate it far more importantly
being someone who calls Chatsworth home, I want to serve our beloved Chatsworth. We need to promote, defend, and safeguard Chatsworth’s Old West semi-rural identity
and protect all open space. Fifty years ago, Chatsworth was all oranges and horses. What little of that we have left, we need to protect from development. I believe that we
all have a duty to serve our neighborhood, and Chatsworth is certainly a unique community. I want to be a voice on day-to-day issues, such as advocating for more community clean-ups, having honest conversations about supporting our public schools, and everything else from Santa Susana to Aliso Canyon. I believe that preserving Chatsworth’s open space and horse-keeping culture as well as standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our public school leaders is the least I can do to pass on Chatsworth’s uniqueness in the years and decades to come.
Shawn Sangeladji
Working in Chatsworth for the past 20 years and attending the schools in Chatsworth (Chatsworth High School, Chatsworth Elementary and Santa Susana Elementary) plus
playing Basketball at Chatsworth Park and Mason Park for many years at the Leagues was an experience and I have the most amazing Memories. I have seen a lot of changes good and bad in the Chatsworth Community. I have seen our community grow from a small community to an enormous community over the years. I have been in the
Banking & Financial World for over 20 years, currently in Real Estate. I have had a great deal of respect for the residents that live in Chatsworth, including our Police Dept,
Fire Dept, that have kept our community safe, clean and most of all have had open arms for everyone in the surrounding area. I am currently part of a Non-Profit Volunteer
Group and also a Volunteer at LAPD Devonshire Division, that covers Chatsworth and the surrounding area and would love to bring my knowledge and experience to help the
Board and Community to sustain its reputation and make the Chatsworth Community Amazing!
Art Wyckoff
On becoming homeless in 1992, I learned about the special geographical location of Chatsworth by accident! And then , ——discovered many of the special people whom
worked or lived in the area , that made it possible for me to stay by helping to improve my situation during this difficult time ! During this 30 plus year time I grew to really appreciate the uniqueness the neighborhood enjoyed with its equine community ; the historical western history (both real & cinematic;) the rich nature opportunities the area provides; and ,the understated independence of its business people and residents ! I also have observed the great changes evolving in Chatsworth during this time
period as well !I honestly believe that I have a unique character makeup that can help ALL the stakeholders enjoy their community, WITHOUT ALTERING THE BASIC
REASONS THE PROPERTY OWNERS BOUGHT AND CONTINUE TO BUY HERE ! I see this neighborhood council as an opportunity to pay back all those people whose
kindness enabled me to survive ! But ——If you spoke to the people working in many of the businesses along Devonshire, they would tell you that they see me as someone
who would be a positive member of this neighborhood council with a great capacity for exercising common sense in helping to solve problems presented ! Appreciate any
consideration shown!
Karina Belyavskiy (Note: This Candidate has Withdrawn from the Selection)
Hello All,
My name is Karina. I was born in the Soviet Union and was raised in Israel. For over 20 years I have been a proud United States citizen. In 2018, the City of Chatsworth allowed
me to achieve the American Dream, and I became a homeowner. Now, when my children are adults, I am ready to give back to my community.
Thank you!
Karina
Allan Braish
Hello, Chatsworth neighbors!
My name is Allan Braish, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council Board. As a long-time resident with a deep passion for our community, I am committed to making a positive impact and serving as your voice on important neighborhood issues. I believe that strong communities are built on active citizen engagement and collaboration. Throughout my years in Chatsworth, I have witnessed the power of collective action in creating positive change. Now, I am eager to contribute my skills and experience to further enhance our neighborhood’s well-being. Moreover, safety is paramount in any thriving neighborhood. As part of the council
board, I will prioritize initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety measures such as improved street lighting or traffic management solutions. Together, we can create an
environment where everyone feels secure. Finally, environmental sustainability matters greatly to me personally; it ensures a healthier future for generations to come. By advocating for responsible practices such as recycling programs or green spaces preservation efforts within our neighborhood plans,
I aim to play my part in safeguarding our environment. I humbly request your support as we work together to shape the future of Chatsworth into one that reflects its vibrant spirit while addressing community needs effectively. You deserve someone who will listen attentively, respond promptly, and act
Eugene Butler
I’ve been a resident and homeowner in Chatsworth for twelve years now and love this area. Also, I’ve been witness to many changes in that period of time. Some of them
have been good and some haven’t been good at all. My interest lies in keeping the good and making it even better and taking the bad and turning it into something better. I
also believe that the residents of Chatsworth should be engaged more with our Neighborhood Council, and we do that by making everyone more aware and interested
in what it is the Council is doing.
Jirair Ratevosian
As a longtime homeowner in Chatsworth, my family’s deep roots in this community have provided me with a unique perspective on its evolution. Growing up here, I have
witnessed the transformation of our neighborhood from a quiet enclave to a dynamic and diverse community. This history fuels my passion for preserving the character and
integrity of Chatsworth. I am running for the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council to ensure our community continues to thrive while addressing the challenges that accompany growth and development. My vision is to support all communities and businesses in Chatsworth, fostering an environment where everyone can prosper. As a public health physician, I am concerned about overpopulation and unchecked development that threaten our quality of life. I will advocate for responsible planning that balances growth with the preservation of our neighborhood’s unique character and protects our health and well being. By promoting smart development policies, we can protect our open spaces, reduce traffic congestion, and maintain the charm that makes Chatsworth special. My first job at Baskin Robbins (age 15) on Devonshire/Mason taught me the value of
hard work and the importance of local businesses in our community. Our small businesses are the heart of Chatsworth, and I will work tirelessly to create an environment where they can thrive. I am committed to being a voice for all residents of Chatsworth, ensuring our community remains a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.I humbly ask for your support and look forward to serving you.
Bree Worden
I believe I am a great candidate because I co-own Strain Balboa Caregivers in Chatsworth. I have been with Chatsworth Kiwanis since 2020. This is my third year being secretary and I’m on The Board of Directors. I serve on The Board of Directors for The Chamber of Commerce and help organize The Chatsworth Blockfest. Having a local business and being a community volunteer I have Chatsworth’s best interest at heart. I would love to have all organizations, businesses and community members work together to make Chatsworth better than ever.
Shekhar Chikhalikar
Hello, my name is Shekhar. Chatsworth has been my home for the past 21 years. As a local business owner with two children attending our local schools, I have a personal
stake in making our city a beautiful, clean, and safe place for fellow homeowners, families, and business owners. I have served Chatsworth and the surrounding communities by organizing and volunteering for numerous community organizations and events, including serving as a prior CNC member where I was appointed secretary. During my tenure, I also served on the CNC equestrian, outreach, and legislative committees.
Some of my past and current affiliations include:
● President and board member of Chatsworth Kiwanis
● Member of Supporters of LAPD in Devonshire
● Past Vice President of Political Affairs of the Chatsworth and Porter Ranch
Chamber of Commerce
● Past Vice President of the Business Improvement District of Chatsworth
For the past three years, I was on hiatus due to health issues. However, since my recovery, I am eager to become active again in the community that I love. With your
support, I would be honored to continue volunteering and representing our community by being part of the CNC. Thank you.
Robert Acevedo
My name is Robert Acevedo and I’m interested in becoming a member of the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council. In my professional work, I’m an actor, writer, musician and aspiring filmmaker. I’ve also worked as a Realtor and assistant real estate developer. As a volunteer, I’m currently one of two caretakers at the Congregational Church of Chatsworth. Although our Church is open to all, we tend to serve many unhoused individuals who depend on us for food, clothing and additional items and services.
Last year, I experienced homelessness for the first time in my life. Fortunately, as my relationship and commitment to the Congregational Church of Chatsworth grew, I was
allowed to eventually live in the Pastor’s Office and was given keys to the property and allowed to conduct various activities such as Karaoke and movie nights.
Specifically, the reasons I would like to be considered for a position on the Council are twofold. First of all, I would like to share my experience and insight as a previously
homeless individual in the hopes that I may shed new light and potential solutions for this critical, ongoing societal issue. Secondly, as an aspiring filmmaker I would like to
explore new ways in bringing more TV and film productions to the city of Chatsworth, which the Council knows has a rich history in this area.
In closing, I think I am uniquely qualified to represent the Council because of my personal and professional experience.
