Chatsworth Train Memorial
CD12 held a memorial to mark ten years since the Chatsworth Train Collision which was one of the most traumatic events ever to occur in our community. The event brought together families from far flung communities, first responders from disparate agencies, and elected officials from different counties and cities. While the people and families impacted by this event have all walked very different paths these last ten years, this memorial reminded us that we are all bound by the same tragic event.
Lives were forever changed on the day of September 12, 2008. Families, once whole, had to piece themselves together. First responders encountered a scene that not even all the training in the world could prepare an individual to see. Survivors carried with them scars and injuries that — if not permanent — required months and years of recovery. Everyone who was there has the event seared into their memory.(Click on image at top to view video)
