Chatsworth NC Selection March 15, 2025 – Candidate Statements
(In Filing Order)

Allan Braish

My name is Allan Braish, and I am seeking your support to serve on the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council. As a dedicated resident of our community, I am passionate about building a neighborhood where every voice matters and collaboration leads to meaningful progress.

With a background in entrepreneurship and business management, I have honed skills in leadership, problem-solving, and fostering partnerships. These experiences have taught me the value of inclusivity and the importance of listening to diverse perspectives to create solutions that benefit everyone. My work has also reinforced my commitment to transparency and accountability, qualities I will bring to this position.

Chatsworth is a unique and diverse community, and I believe we have the potential to address challenges while embracing opportunities for growth. My priorities include advocating for improved infrastructure, enhancing public safety, supporting small businesses, and creating youth engagement programs that empower the next generation. I am also passionate about environmental sustainability and will work to promote initiatives that protect our natural spaces.

If elected, I will focus on fostering open communication and ensuring residents have the opportunity to participate in decisions that shape our community’s future. I am committed to making Chatsworth an even better place to live, work, and thrive.

I am excited about the opportunity to serve and would be honored to have your trust and support in this election. Together, we can build a stronger, more vibrant Chatsworth.

John Joseph

As a husband and father, I deeply value the safety and well-being of our community. I’m running for the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council because I believe in building a stronger, more vibrant neighborhood for all of us.

I’m committed to:

  • Improving safety and security: Working with law enforcement and residents to address concerns about crime and enhance public safety measures.
  • Preserving our green spaces: Protecting our parks and open spaces while exploring ways to improve recreational facilities for families.
  • Supporting local businesses: Advocating for policies that foster a thriving local economy and support our small businesses.
  • Enhancing community engagement: Fostering open communication channels between residents and the Council, ensuring everyone has a voice in shaping the future of Chatsworth.

I believe my experience as a husband and father gives me a unique perspective on the needs of our community. I understand the importance of a safe and welcoming environment for families to thrive. I’m eager to serve as your representative and work tirelessly to make Chatsworth an even better place to live.

Amanda Warren

I have been a resident of Chatsworth for about 9 years.I am a Pet Sitter in the community and really care about our neighborhood. I would like to be a part of positive changes and improvements.

Shawn Sangeladji

Working in Chatsworth for the past 20 years and attending the schools in Chatsworth (Chatsworth High School, Chatsworth Elementary and Santa Susana Elementary) plus playing Basketball at Chatsworth Park and Mason Park for many years at the Leagues was an experience and I have the most amazing Memories. I have seen a lot of changes Good and Bad in the Chatsworth Community. I have seen our community grow from a small community to an enormous community over the years. I have been in the Banking & Financial World for over 20 years, currently in Real Estate. I have had a great deal of respect for the residents that live in Chatsworth, including our Police Dept, Fire Dept, that have kept our community safe, clean and most of all have had open arms for everyone in the surrounding area. I am currently part of a Non-Profit Volunteer Group and also a Volunteer at LAPD Devonshire Division, that covers Chatsworth and the surrounding area and would love to bring my knowledge and experience to help the Board and Community to sustain its reputation and make the Chatsworth Community Amazing!

Tim Mahoney

Dear Neighbors,

I’m Tim Mahoney, and I’m running for a position on the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council to help shape a brighter future for our community. As a long-time resident and a business executive, I have the leadership experience and problem-solving skills needed to make a real impact.

I’ll bring a commitment of collaboration and efficiency to our Neighborhood Council, working closely with local stakeholders to address community needs, ensuring our voices are heard and ensuring we work together to solve key issues like safety,

infrastructure, and local development.

I believe in transparency, inclusivity, and finding common ground. My goal is to be part of an environment where every resident feels valued and every decision benefits our collective future. Whether it’s supporting small businesses, improving public spaces, or advocating for neighborhood improvements, I’m dedicated to making our community a better place for all.

I would be honored to have your support and the opportunity to serve you.

Jett Dunlap

My name is Jett Dunlap, and I am a second-generation Angeleno. Since grade school, I’ve called the San Fernando Valley home. Growing up in Granada Hills, I proudly served on the neighborhood council for nine years, including four as Director of Outreach. For the past decade, I’ve lived in Chatsworth with my wife, where we own a business, work as filmmakers, and actively enjoy the city’s natural beauty, even incorporating it into our creative projects.

I am running for this position because I believe our community deserves stronger grassroots leadership. Just over a week ago, I stopped a man from attempting to set Chatsworth Park North on fire. Months earlier, I stood with a garden hose, spraying flames on our hill as firefighters worked to protect our home. These experiences have made it clear that our city’s safety is at a critical point, and immediate action is needed.

I want to be a voice for our community, ensuring these urgent issues are heard and addressed. Together, we can elevate conversations about public safety and work toward tangible solutions to protect our homes, parks, and quality of life in Chatsworth.

Don D Paul

I have decided to run once again for the neighborhood council. Having now lived in Chatsworth for 10 years, I’m not a new person anymore. Sometimes I feel people here say, “Welcome to Chatsworth. Now if I were you, I’d keep going, because we don’t trust a lot of new people here.” Well, I’m not new now, and I have some ideas to share. One is the rental of horses for riding. I’ve been told, “Well the liability insurance is too much to bear.”  Okay, then my question is, “Do you think the liability insurance for horse rentals down in the Griffith Park area is any LESS expensive than it would be up here?” This is horse country. We have “The Day of the Horse.” We have trails. We’re losing possible income and popularity here. Oh yeah, that “If I were you….” scenario. I love the area. I want to help.

There’s more, yet y’all can just suggest I move on.

Ramiel George Shamwel

Greetings! My name is Ramiel and I am a lifelong and native resident of Chatsworth.  Learning from my experiences as an academic with a doctorate and far more importantly being someone who calls Chatsworth home, I seek to continue to serve our beloved Chatsworth. Having served on the Board the last several months has been a tremendously important experience. We need to promote, defend, and safeguard Chatsworth’s Old West semi-rural identity and protect all open space. Fifty years ago, Chatsworth was all oranges and horses.  What little of that we have left, we need to protect from development. I believe that we all have a duty to serve our neighborhood, and Chatsworth is certainly a unique community. I want to be a voice on day-to-day issues, such as advocating for more community clean-ups, having honest conversations about supporting our public schools, and everything else from Santa Susana to Aliso Canyon. I believe that preserving Chatsworth’s open space and horse-keeping culture as well as standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our public school leaders is the least I can do to pass on Chatsworth’s uniqueness in the years and decades to come.

Douglas E Nolan

I have been a constituent of Chatsworth for 14 years. I pride myself as “Boots on the Ground” helping homeless both personally and asking L.A. City and County officials for help and reporting issues. I presented this year for Chatsworth and Los Angeles in front of the L.A. County Board of Supervisors as well as City Hall. I notice everything that could be improved such as street lighting with MyLA311, tree pruning with the Urban Forestry Division, and street sweeping with the Bureau of Sanitation. I was at the Christmas tree lighting with Lindsey Horvath and Kathryn Barger just to have a Chatsworth presence.

I graduated with a Master’s Degree in 2024 from the University of Arizona Global Campus with a 3.78 GPA. I was recently accepted into Law School for a Juris Doctorate Degree at Abraham Lincoln University and plan to use my knowledge and education to focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance laws. However, from what I have learned from life experience, there are many other areas of legislation that need to be updated and improved. There is a famous American Historian named Daniel Boorstin who said, “The great thing about the American people is their pragmatism and willingness to change things when the olde ways stopped working”. I am also in pursuit of obtaining my Part 107 Unmanned Aircraft Systems license with the Federal Aviation Administration.

Lastly, I volunteer for the Special Olympics, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Red Cross, and Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

Mark Cox

Mark Cox for Chatsworth City Council – Committed to Safety & Accountability

For 35 years, my martial arts school has been a cornerstone of Chatsworth, instilling discipline, confidence, and a sense of responsibility in our community. Having proudly served three terms on the City Council, I am running once more to ensure accountability where it matters most—especially regarding the homeless shelters in our area. These shelters must operate as intended, providing real solutions without compromising the safety and well-being of our residents.

Keeping our town safe has always been my mission—both personally and through my school. I have worked tirelessly to support our law enforcement, advocate for responsible community policies, and foster programs that promote security and stability. But there is still work to be done.

I believe in common-sense leadership, transparency, and taking action.

Daniel De La Cruz

Hello, my name is Daniel De La Cruz and I would surely appreciate your consideration for neighborhood council.

As a recent graduate in the field of Registered Nursing, I care deeply about the human condition at the holistic level. We are taught as nurses that this means not just the clinical, biological aspect of health, but the social, mental, environmental facets of life. Essentially, mind, body, and spirit.

In practical terms- I am interested in learning about at all the issues that impact this unique and historic neighborhood, and advocating on behalf of its residents. Land use, homelessness, cultural and recreational enrichment, to name a few.

I have zero presumptions on how this neighborhood should be run, particularly not when compared to its longtime residents. Which is why I am committed to spending time and taking effort to listen to all concerns, comments, and recommendations, so that I may serve as an advocate and voice of the people that make this neighborhood so truly special.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope that you will allow me to repay the favor if elected.

Richard Medrano

My name is Richard Medrano, and I am honored to run for a seat on the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council. I have been married for 15 years to my beautiful wife, Patricia Algier. We have two wonderful children, Ashleigh and Jayson. As a 17-year resident of Chatsworth, I am deeply invested in our community and passionate about fostering a sense of connection, inclusivity, and civic engagement among our residents.

As the CEO of City of Angels Community Choirs, a nonprofit organization based in Chatsworth, I have dedicated my life to enriching our community through the performing arts. Our organization provides scholarships to children from underserved areas, ensuring that every child, regardless of financial background, has access to music education and performance opportunities. Through our outreach programs, we have raised funds for vital causes, including LAPD Devonshire PALS, women’s shelters, and other local charities. Our choir participates in parades, hospital performances, and community events, using music as a tool to uplift and unite.

I believe in the power of community—when we know each other, celebrate each other, and support one another, we create a stronger, more connected Chatsworth. If elected, I will work to enhance community engagement, advocate for local arts and education, and ensure that every resident feels heard and valued.

Chatsworth is more than just where we live—it is our home. Let’s work together to build a thriving, inclusive, and vibrant community for all. I would be honored to have your vote.
